I just wanted to mention a little of what was going on here since we've been quiet a while.
The Springfield school is once again participating in the Ozarks Public Television fund drive for this December. This afternoon if you watched PBS around here you would have seen two spots thanking the school for help answering the phones. Due to some scheduling we ended up helping out with two shifts today, and will again next Saturday as well.
The shifts are three or four hours long generally and they really appreciate our help. We just have to answer the phones to fill out cards for the donations people call in. Without volunteers to take the donations they have to pay an answering service a dollar a minute to take the donations, which cuts into the funds a bit. And the volunteers get compensated with some free food, generally plenty of it, from places like McAllister's Deli, Mudhouse, Fazoli's and so on. And it's a good chance to chat and hang out with each other as well as whoever is there. And our school gets a little exposure with the television thank-you spots.
Anyway, thanks to Dylan Bates for helping me out with it today and to Jon and Lauren who signed up for a later shift (they should be there now, while I'm writing this) after they got off work.
Anyone who wants to join in next Saturday, the 11th, drop me a note.
