Hey guys, if any of you could help me out with this project that would be "friggin' awesome."  Honestly i have no idea where to even begin, and i know some of you have been involved with other clubs on campus, so your knowledge would be extremely helpful to me.  Thanks guys.

Sup Dilly,

We need an advisor first off, and then we would have had to attend a meeting that is already over.  So .... we might have to wait until next semester or maybe summer for this to happen.

I was wondering if anyone knew a teacher that works at least 30 hours at SMSU that would be able to sponsor us for a "club" in SMS.  We can still be an outside organization but we would be affiliated with SMS and can recieve benefits etc.  Without a sponsor we can't do this at all, so go ask a teacher or many teachers if they would be able to sign their name on the dotted line.  If you need any help ask me (Sean Asher)

your best bet for an advosor would be in the phys ed dept. i know sms has a tae kwon do class and a judo class as well. those instructors would be the first i talk to for a club. but since they teach another style of martial arts they may want a more inclusive club, by that i mean it would no longer be a 'kungfu club' rather more of an all round martial arts club. which wouldnt necessarily be a bad thing.
either way those instructors would know someone who would be interested in sponsoring something like that.

First of all there are a few things that were not considered by the last post.

1. That the Tae Kwon Do and Judo instructors are only faculty that teach these classes and have no office hours or offices to speak of on campus.

2. There already are the following organizations at SMS; Judo/Jujitsu club, Tae Kwon Do Club, and a Martial Arts Club.

These are the first problems.  The second proble is the club atmosphere.  If it is going to be a club, that involves sharing and aiding in understanding of technique.  These are things tha are only supposed to be corrected by your SiHing or Sifu, thus the environment style ofa club is not in keeping with the way the Shaolin Lohan system works.

I am not saying I am against it, it is just there are several things that need further consideration before moving foward.

those are both good points. i dont know that much about the faculty/staff at sms or which clubs are available.

and as far as the system... i have thought that same thing. there really isnt a need for a 'club' other than exposure, which can be done by the demo team. i guess you could consider it civic outreach or something like that.

but it would be nice to have a figurehead on a campus. we would get lots of exposure. and many opportunities could arise from maintaining a communication with the school.

maybe our first decisions should be to decide what are intentions are gong to be with a club on campus. i think we should use it as a way to volunteer our time to the community. for example:  we could join say... cancer walks as shaolin lohan school of kung fu, and the kung fu club of smsu.
