Most of you who were at our "8th Annual Chinese New Year Celebration" (2005) know that we have more Lions than we have team members.  I guess this is a good problem, but a problem (that needs to be rectified) none the less.

As of last night (February 19, 2005), we are finally done with our performances for this year's "Lunar New Year".  We are going to take a one week break and then I want to start on the Troupe's expansion and training.  Being a part of the "Shaolin Lohan Pai Lion Dance Troupe" is an Honor and a requires serious commitment.

If we are going to ever perform with all of our Lions and Dragon simultaneously, we are going to need more capable people to do the job.  A few younger children would be nice also.  Children are so adorable when they perform a Lion Dance.  We need enough people to fill 7 Lions, a 20 person dragon, 7 leaders, 3 drums, 2 cymbals, 2 gongs and 4 Lohan (guardians & flag bearers).

That is a total team of compliment of 52 people.  I know that is a large number, but we do have the capacity to achieve that goal.  The need for that many people based on that type of performance will be rare.  However, based on the past year’s schedule; we had to turn down too many requests for a performance.  I truly despise wasting opportunity.

I’m sure that it will take time to fill these positions.  Patience has never been one of my virtues.  But my commitment to “Excellence” is.  The team is the best in the State of Missouri and it will be better in the future.

Is there anyone interested in joining the troupe?

Okay... the break is over.  Starting Monday, 02 May 2005 everyone on the team is required to attend the practices and training sessions.  My new schedule is starting and you will all see me there more often.
