Sifu,

This is a question I would usually just ask you when I see you, but I thought that maybe other people would benefit from me putting it on here.  As you know, I train a lot (not just kung fu) and I am noticing a problem with a lack of energy.  Now my sleeping schedule isn't the greatest since insomnia seems to have a hold of me, but I know my diet isn't great (far from it actually).  So I was curious, for someone who trains as much as I, what should I focus on more during meals so I can have the energy to do what I want to do?  I need to find something because this lack of energy keeps me from accomplishing what I want during my training.  I don't have much time to train and the little time I do have, I want to take complete advantage of it.  Thanks, Sifu.

Some of you know that I have the same challenges with insomnia.
The more I train the less sleep I get.  However, having a lack of energy
shouldn't go hand-in-hand with insomnia.  It sounds like you have a
restless mind like most men have.  This also happens to students that
train Shantung Black Tiger.

Perhaps the next time we get together I should show you how to calm your
mind.  Along with the meditation; I would start with in taking lots of
Protein, Calcium and Vitamin C.  You may need to increase your food intake
another 1,500 calories.  I can provide you with a recipe for a shake that
will do this.
