I’m sure most of you are wondering why SiHing Balestra’s and SiHing Cardetti’s forum on “The Verbal Kwoon” for questions has been locked. After a great deal of consideration, I have decided to suspend both of them as “Authorized Instructors” until further notice.
Though I appreciate all that both have done, I am concerned with their lack of progress, both in their martial skill and their teaching ability as a SiHing. Progress is something that must always happen. I feel that not enough time is being committed to either endeavor. I understand that everyone must live his or her lives, both professionally and personally. However, being an Instructor of this system takes a serious commitment.
Since both are not actively teaching and have not presented a student for testing, I am unable to effectively judge their abilities to translate the curriculum of this system. Our individual class times with each other are rather erratic, and I am not able to effectively assess their progress as a “Martial Artist”.
There has always been a quality standard with all of our Instructors. Their ability and willingness to teach is just as important as their martial skill. I want everyone to realize that this action, in no way, reflects on how I feel about either SiHing. This action is a necessary step that must be taken and my method of Quality Control.
In order for either one of them to attain the authority to teach within this system again, each one needs to retake their SiHing Test in three to six months. I just want to mention that there was another SiHing that was close to being suspended. Who that is… is not important right now. What is important is that I want everyone, Student and Instructor, to take this to heart. The Shaolin Lohan School of Kung Fu requires commitment, extreme effort and dedication to excel. Even though it is hard to become a student of this system, it is even more difficult to stay within it.
