An old Chinese proverb states, "It is better to spend 3 years looking
for a good teacher than to spend 10 years learning from a bad one."  Do you agree?

Of course, sir.  Time less spent.

Don't waste any more time in seeking and looking.  Spend time in your self, you'll find that much more to discover.

But the harder path might be found in first figuring out yourself, then a teacher if needed will be there for you.  If not, then you just go it alone a bit.  Confidence, and humility.  I've met many new people that way.

I'll forgo the flowery poetry and all that other jazz and say that it's tough.  Real tough, and hard work.  Not necessarily kung fu drills.  Those are tools to strengthen the mind, the most important thing worth protecting.

A GOOD teacher is worth more than any amount of time spent with a bad teacher.

Nine years ago I encountered a GOOD  teacher, Sigung Cabais.  The lessons I learned set me on a new path which continues even to this day, and instilled in me something that could never be obtained anywhere else.

Lao Tzu said: "Words may be used to speak of it, but they cannot contain it."  That is certainly true of My experience with Sifu.  Those of you who have spent time with him and absorbed a little of his aura know what I mean.
